Everybody talks about cutting people off,
but nobody really talks about the grief that comes
with having to stand firm on that decision,
knowing it’s not what you wanted but what was necessary for your well being.
No one warns you that doing the right thing can still hurt.
Cutting someone off isn’t just about letting them go.
It’s about letting go of who you hoped they would be,
the future you imagined, and the bond you thought could last.
You’re not just losing the person.
You’re losing the memories, the comfort, and the hope you had.
Even if you know it was the best choice, it still hurts.
Healing doesn’t always feel good at first—it feels like grief.
